Wildfires broke out throughout Israel this week during a searing heatwave that caused Israelis to flee as fires damaged homes and forced evacuations.

Strong winds had helped the fires to spread quickly, reaching a breakneck speed of four meters per second in some places, or roughly nine miles per hour. The winds also grounded firefighting planes and helicopters.

The fires reached a level of intensity with the struggle to fight them so desperate that Israel Fire and Rescue Chief Dudi Simchi, declared a “red alert” whereby all the firefighters, as well as volunteer firefighters, were called up to help extinguish fires that had engulfed Israel.

“Red Alert” is the highest level of readiness and this is the first time it has been enacted in Israel’s history. As this was the first time ever that every firefighter in Israel was called up.

There were multiple wildfires across Israel as a street in Jerusalem was blocked to allow firefighters to battle a blaze that was nearby. And Part of Haifa’s Technion-Israel Institute of Technology was also evacuated as flames approached the hillside campus.

Due to the rash of fires throughout the country, the Israel Fire and Rescue Services went on emergency footing canceling all vacations and calling up all firefighters.

The heat wave that struck Israel this week sent temperatures soaring to near-record breaking heights.

The highest temperature was recorded on the southern shores of the Dead Sea, near the site of Biblical Sodom, where temperatures hit 49.9 degrees Celsius, or 122° Fahrenheit.

That’s not far from the highest-ever temperature recorded in the country, 54°C (129°F) in June 1942 at a Kibbutz in the northern Jordan Valley.

The Biblical prophecies (Luke 21, Revelation 16) foretell how the weather cycles will intensify until humankind is affected with great heat as a sign of the Last Days prophecies indicating the coming end of the age and the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ.

These events are signs of the Last Days revealing its time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2). And this new birth experience brings peace and joy in the Holy Spirit now in this life, and eternal life in the world to come.
