In scenes that look like preparation for a major hurricane, businesses across the U.S. are boarding up their stores in fear of what could happen in the outcome of the presidential election.
Across the country they have begun boarding up and taking other security measures in anticipation of potential unrest on or around Election Day as many cities remain on edge following a summer of widespread riots and mayhem.
In Washington D.C., hair salons, restaurants, clothing stores, and banks just blocks away from the White House were covered in plywood as business owners prepare for a possible repeat of the violent riots and looting seen over the summer.
In an email sent to students, George Washington University suggested stockpiling frozen meals, medication and other supplies before Nov. 3 to prepare “for the Election Day period as you would for a hurricane or a snowstorm that would prevent you from going outside for several days to grab food or order takeout.”
A representative with the Downtown DC Business Improvement District said that several prominent businesses plan to close on Election Day or for at least the entire week.
The White House has erected a non-scalable fence designed to deter climbers surrounding the perimeter of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Also in Los Angeles downtown businesses have begun securing storefronts with shops on the heavily trafficked corridors of La Brea Avenue and Sunset Boulevard securing their operations in anticipation of election turmoil.
Merchants in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills are also taking precautions where Beverly Hill’s famous Rodeo Drive, home to many luxury boutiques, will be locked down for two days beginning on Election Day.
Workers along New York City’s Sixth Avenue and 19th Street were seen with power tools battening down the hatches on the many chain stores in the area. Macy’s flagship store in midtown Manhattan, which was looted during previous unrest, was also boarded up.
The precautions come during one of the most contentious presidential elections in living memory that has played out in nationwide demonstrations during the year of 2020.
As merchants are saying in interviews that no matter who wins the election, they think there are going to be angry people who could begin unrest and turmoil.
The Biblical Prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21) foretell that in the Last Days there will be an environment of offenses and hatred, with violence as it was in the days of Noah, which will be signs indicating the nearing end of this age of grace.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
