Iran has warned the US of “consequences” after Washington carried out airstrikes against an Iranian militia group in Iraq and Syria.

It’s reported that at least 25 people were killed and 51 wounded in the US airstrikes that targeted five facilities in Iraq and Syria controlled by the Kataib Hezbollah Militia of Iran.

Kataib Hezbollah is a militia group that is a part of the Iran-backed Shiite Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq.

The US strikes represent the first significant US military response in retaliation for attacks by the militia group that have injured numerous American military personnel in Iraq.

According to the state-run IRNA news agency of Iran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mosavi said that the US has openly shown its support to terrorism and shown its negligence to the independence and national sovereignty of countries.

Mosavi added “It must accept responsibility of the consequences of the illegal attacks.”

Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant terrorist group connected to Iran, also condemned the US airstrikes.

Lebanon’s Hezbollah called the attack “a blatant violation on the sovereignty, security and stability of Iraq and the Iraqi people” in a statement released on the group’s al-Manar TV.

Mid-East tensions between the US and Iran continue to increase as the US continues its “maximum pressure” sanctions campaign and Iran responds with what it calls “maximum resistance.”

Which now has the potential of evolving into direct military confrontation between the US and Iran or its proxies in the Middle East.
