The U.S. Coast Guard issued a warning over a Russian spy ship operating erratically with apparent disregard for maritime safety along the U.S. coastline.

The Russian warship, Viktor Leonov, was spotted operating in an unsafe manner near a U.S. nuclear sub base with the Coast Guard issuing a maritime safety information bulletin about Leonov’s activities.

That included erratic movements, not powering running lights in low visibility conditions and not responding to ships attempting to coordinate safe passage.

The Coast Guard advised vessels traveling near Georgia and South Carolina to “maintain a sharp lookout and use extreme caution when navigating in proximity to this vessel.”

U.S. officials believe the ship’s mission has been to spy on Navy facilities and gather intelligence on U.S. nuclear submarines.

The Leonov has been suspected of monitoring a large naval base in Norfolk, Virginia as well as the submarine base at Kings Bay, Georgia.

Security analysts have described the ship as outfitted with more than antennas above the water line estimating that it has intelligence gathering capabilities, magnetic anomaly sensors, acoustic gear to profile American vessels, and the capability to map the ocean’s floor.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and Northern Command (NORTHCOM) are tracking the Leonov as a vessel of interest observing Russia’s naval activities, including intelligence collection ships.

U.S. intelligence officials have increased interest in the ship after Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed the development of an underwater nuclear drone, code-named “Kanyon.”

The Kanyon high-speed underwater drone, also known as Status 6, is reportedly capable of carrying a large nuclear warhead. Such a weapon could destroy entire ports and harbors.

The Biblical Prophecies (Matthew 24) foretell that in the Last Days nation will rise against nation and there will be wars and rumors of wars.

As the born again Church is not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10) but instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
