U.S. Defense Secretary Breaks From President On Insurrection Force

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryGeneral

US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper came out and said that he does not support invoking the Insurrection Act to deploy active-duty forces to quell civil unrest.

This is despite President Trump’s recent threats to militarize America’s response to the mass protests happening across America.

President Trump has said that he could use military forces in states that fail to crack down on the sometimes violent protests over the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, at the hands of white police officers in Minneapolis.

But Pentagon chief Esper told a news briefing “The option to use active-duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now. I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act.”

The Defense Secretary’s statements were a clear break with the US President.

And it’s reported that Esper’s news conference did not go over well with either the president or his top aides, according to an administration official speaking on the condition of anonymity.

The military has already pre-positioned 1,600 active duty forces on the outskirts of Washington, D.C., to deploy if needed.

And its reported a US official said that the Army had been told of a decision to send some of the active duty troops back to their home base.

But then Secretary Esper reversed course following a meeting at the White House and discussions at the Pentagon.

Esper also said he was unaware that he would be part of Trump’s politically charged photo opportunity, when law enforcement forcibly cleared a park outside the White House of peaceful protesters, so that the president could take a picture in front of a church holding a Bible.

And the President’s threats to deploy active duty troops, even in states that oppose its use to address civil unrest, stirred alarm within the US military.

With several high-ranking former military officers and officials speaking out against it, including former Secretary of Defense Mattis and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, retired Navy Admiral Mike Mullen.

Since the country took a definite turn away from its original founding tenets in the Holy Bible,  division, strife, confusion, hatred, and violence continue to increase in the U.S.

The Biblical prophecies (Genesis 6, Matthew 24) describe that hatred and violence like that of the days of Noah will be a sign indicating the nearing end of this age of grace.

These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before.
