A muslim wielding a knife has entered a church in the French city of Nice and killed three people in decapitation attacks while shouting “Allahu akbar!”

The mayor said the vile attack occurred at the Notre Dame Basilica in the Mediterranean city and that police had detained the assailant.

A sacristan of the church was brutally killed as he prepared for the first service of the day. An elderly female parishioner who had come to pray as the church opened was beheaded.

And a second woman who was fatally stabbed ran across the street before dying of her injuries. Armed police arrived minutes later arresting the Islamist.

Other attacks also happened on the French elsewhere. A security guard was stabbed and wounded outside the French consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Two other men were also arrested, one while carrying a knife near a church in Sartrouville, France, after his father reported he was about to carry out a Nice-style attack, and another who tried to board a train in Lyon carrying a long blade.

The attacks come amid fury across the Islamic world at French President Macron for defending satirical cartoons of Mohammed, and on the day that Sunni Muslims mark Mohammed’s birthday.

It also comes less than two weeks after a schoolteacher, Samuel Paty, was beheaded north of Paris for showing cartoons of Mohammed to his class in a lesson on free speech.

President Macron travelled to Nice following the attack and gave a speech, as church bells sounded across France to honor the dead.

Macron said it was ‘clear that France is under attack… because of our values of freedom and our desire not to give in to terror’.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Revelation 6) foretell that growing hatred and the sword of conflict where people kill one another will be signs of the Last Days indicating the nearing end of this age.
