First responders in Taiwan searched through rubble for survivors after a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck the island which triggered fears of a tsunami in Japan.
Taiwan’s earthquake monitoring agency said the quake hit off the island’s southeastern coast at a depth of roughly four miles.
The agency also reported dozens of aftershocks in the hours after the opening quake. And the U.S. Geological Survey said the threat of a tsunami striking Japan passed without serious incident.
Initial images from Taiwan’s eastern Hualien County showed at least one collapsed building, with firefighters and other first responders attempting to save those trapped inside.
Taiwan had given no official reports on injuries or fatalities resulting from the quake, but some reports said at least one person has been killed and 79 injured.
It seemed the casualties centered around a collapsed convenience store building and the Gaoliao Bridge in Hualien County, as well as a derailed train car.
Authorities also rescued three people who fell from the bridge as it split apart in the quake.
This disaster in Taiwan came just a few weeks after Taiwan offered to send its first responders to assist Chinese firefighters in attempting to save people trapped in the aftermath of a 6.8 magnitude earthquake there.
The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21, Revelation 6) foretell that there will be earthquakes in the end-time signaling the world is nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
