There’s a prophecy claim raging on the internet and getting published by mainstream media that tomorrow, Sept. 23, a sign will happen signaling the beginning of the Great Tribulation.
But is this the sign the Holy Scriptures say will start the greatest time of trouble the world will ever know?
The person who has pronounced this prophetic claim for Sept. 23, claims to have numerically ascertained that then a sign will occur in the skies over Jerusalem that is a sign of the beginning of the Great Tribulation in October which is somehow facilitated by a “Planet X” catastrophe.
But what do the Scriptures say is actually the sign of the beginning of the Great Tribulation? Is it a celestial sign over Jerusalem? Is it a “Planet X” catastrophe wrecking havoc upon planet Earth?
No. None of this is what was said by the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. But the Christ did very specifically state what it would be.
He said clearly what would be the sign which started what He called “great tribulation.” That when you see this particular sign, to know that “… then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.” (Matthew 24:21)
What will be the sign of entering into this time of the most horrific turmoil and trouble the world will ever see?
Jesus said the sign is, “… when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (Matthew 24:15), to know then there will be great tribulation. That is the sign Jesus gave, not anything else.
The sign of the Great Tribulation beginning is what Jesus called the ‘abomination of desolation.’
Everything else relative that happens before that, up to this specific event, is just a prelude of signs pointing toward the characteristics of how terribly bad the great coming tribulation will be. After the abomination of desolation event, the catastrophe level exponentially elevates to an “end-of-the-age-level” wrath that is the worse the world has ever seen or could possibly experience.
So that we could better understand what this sign of the Great Tribulation is, the Lord Jesus gave us clues in His reference to this event. He said that it was “… spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place”, where there is an abomination to God that causes the holy place to become desolate.
So by His description we can better understand this sign when referencing it within the context of the prophetic Book of Daniel as it relates to the “holy place.”
Daniel spoke of this event in Daniel 11:31, where he described that there is one coming who shows disregard for the holy covenant and defiles the sanctuary by taking away the daily sacrifices and places their the abomination of desolation.
Then the Apostle Paul provided further enlightenment of this future event for the Last Days in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4, where he first references the rapture saying “… concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled… as though the day of Christ had come.”
And then the Apostle Paul goes on to describe how the greatest of abominations will happen, “… Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.”
Here Paul describes a man of sin, the opposite of the Son of God who is the son of perdition, an anti-christ. Who will in the holy place of the temple be showing himself that he is God instead, the final abomination of desolation as Daniel described; an act of such abomination to God that it causes the holy place of the temple to be desolate or deserted by God.
This is when God decides all the rebellions and abominations of humankind is enough. And not only does the final Jewish temple on the Jerusalem temple mount become desolate, but so also does the world as the grace of God’s Holy Spirit is lifted from the world as a moment of rapturous redemption happens with the Church of Jesus Christ rising to meet Jesus in the clouds of the air.
Then the world government is left with an earth in the state of being desolate or deserted as humankind descends into a time of war and disaster that ultimately leads to Armageddon.
No, anything happening on Sept. 23, 2017, is not the sign of the Great Tribulation beginning.
But what is the beginning, is the sign Jesus called out as the abomination of desolation. When a powerful man of deception called the son of perdition shows himself in the Jewish temple as being God.
Jesus said that is the sign when the Great Tribulation of earth begins, a time which we don’t want to be around to see, but rather avoid.
When the earth is turned over to satan’s anti-christ, it is so much better to have risen with the body of Christ to the marriage supper of the Lamb in heaven.
Where those Biblically born-again into the Kingdom of God will worship Jesus Christ, as those left behind on earth take the mark of the beast and worship their anti-christ.
But thanks be to God, that for now He is merciful, and we are still seeing the Signs of the Last Days Prophecies of Jesus Christ foretold in Matthew 24, to where people can be warned, and still turn to God.
And enjoy His grace, by being born again of the water and the Spirit into the Kingdom of God, as Jesus and Peter said.
