It’s spreading and becoming more virulent with vicious intensity – Its violence.
Terrorists killing hundreds, again; another plane blown out of the sky; another violent earthquake; more children killed in city shootings; one country bombing another; just another one week news cycle.
A defining characteristic of the signs of the times is violence. The Holy Scripture had prophesied of it…
Just as it was in the days of Noah: “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.” Genesis 6:11
So shall it be at the end of this age: “as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Matthew 24:37
It is here. As wave after wave of violence in the headlines seemingly come faster and with more intensity than before showing the clouds of tribulation gathering.
The Project for the Study of the 21st Century, a new global think tank in the global era, says according to their analysis of data from the world’s conflicts that death tolls rose 28.7 percent last year – and there is no sign of it slowing down this year.
A world report on violence by the World Health Organization in Geneva declared the 20th century one of the most violent periods in human history, according to their statistics showing more people losing their life than ever due to violent conflict.
What’s causing the violence in these troubling times? – It all comes from division.
East versus West; Nation against nation; Ethnicity against ethnicity; Race against race; Belief against belief; Family member against family member; Individual against individual. On and on one can select a description of division, describing how this time is a time when humanity is divided. Violence is a result.
What we need is a Peace Giver, someone greater than ourselves who can save us from ourselves. The Holy Scripture speaks of only one who in truth is the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. He experienced violence firsthand, and it took his life. A sinless perfect life, the only such one ever, who gave his life that He, may bring peace to the soul. His Holy Spirit is peace and joy that comes through the spiritual new birth.
Although, He was violently killed by the world government and religion of his day, yet amazingly, He is the only one who can bring peace to this world. “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” Revelation 22:20
