After eight weeks of huge Hong Kong street protests against Beijing’s rule, it’s reported China has been massing police and soldiers just across the border with Hong Kong.
Sending the message that if the protesters don’t quit, a bloodbath could be coming. As Beijing also started denouncing the protests as the work of American provocation.
A quarter-century ago, the West had hoped as it turned control of Hong Kong over to China that welcoming them into the world economy would promote the Communist Party into allowing more freedom. They were wrong.
Since Xi Jinping took over as president in 2013, he’s rolled back freedom after freedom. And the Chinese Communist Party will allow no challenge to its rule.
Christian churches are smashed and worshipers are jailed but even as Xi and the Roman Church agreed together to create their own government “christian” church. As the society, including churches, are now teeming with hi-tech surveillance with stepped-up repression and systematic abuses.
If the protesters continue to press the demonstrations in Hong Kong no doubt the Chinese army will roll down their streets. Showing that Hong Kong’s promised “high degree of autonomy” was always something the communist government of China never truly supported.
The protests were set off by proposed extradition legislation that would have allowed suspects to be sent to China, where critics say they could face possible torture and unfair trials.
The head of Beijing’s Cabinet responsible for the territory, was speaking to Hong Kong residents this week attending a seminar in the mainland city of Shenzhen just across the border from the Asian financial hub.
He said the protests are getting increasingly violent and having “an increasingly broad impact on society.”
He went on to say “It can be said that Hong Kong is facing the most severe situation it has faced since the handover.” And that officials in Beijing were “highly concerned” and studying the situation to decide on measures to take.
The speculation that the military could be deployed grew after Chinese officials pointed to an article in Hong Kong law that allows troops to help with “public order maintenance.”
Many countries are issuing travel safety warnings to their citizens causing Hong Kong’s crucial travel industry to suffer as tourists put off their visits. As Hong Kong residents are continuing to feel the long shadow of Beijing slowly encroaching on their freedoms.
The Biblical Prophecies of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24) foretell that violence, persecution, nation rising against nation, and wars with rumors of wars will be signs of the Last Days revealing we are nearing the end of this age.
These events and conditions are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all these things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy that comes upon the world of disobedience, as the born again Church is appointed instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
