New Orleans Is Now A CV19 Hotspot After Mardi Gras

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryNews

New Orleans is on track to become the next coronavirus epicenter in the United States besides New York after the massive Mardi Gras celebrations.

Infectious disease specialists point to the Mardi Gras parades and celebrations when more than 1 million people packed the city streets squeezed shoulder-to-shoulder to party in the French Quarter as the likely catalyst for the coronavirus explosion in New Orleans.

Mardi Gras provided the perfect conditions for the spread of this virus and New Orleans saw its first coronavirus case about a week later and now the city has one of the fastest coronavirus growth rates in the country.

The number of known coronavirus cases in Louisiana jumped to 2,305, an increase of 510 cases in one day, and a total of 83 deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. Nearly half of Louisiana’s cases came from New Orleans.

As cases climb, half of the New Orleans area’s critical-care beds are already filled with COVID-19 patients as authorities warn the number of cases in New Orleans could overwhelm its hospitals by April 4.

And only half of their ventilators are available out of a total of 650 and at the current rate, the New Orleans area could run out of ventilators by the first week of April.

The city is looking at refitting the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center to care for up to 3,000 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 but don’t require ventilators. The first 120 beds are scheduled to go into the convention center this weekend.

The plight of New Orleans, now with the world’s highest growth rate in coronavirus cases, also raises fears that the city may become a powerful catalyst in spreading the virus across the south of the country.

That is a serious concern for Houston and the fourth-largest city in the country. The two cities have historically strong links made even more so by an influx of New Orleans residents into Houston following Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey.

Meanwhile, New Orleans officials have cancelled the city’s popular St. Patrick’s Day parade and upcoming events like French Quarter Fest and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

And people now stay indoors throughout the city while the French Quarter, usually the city’s thriving center, sits uncharacteristically quiet and empty.

The prophecies in the Holy Bible (Matthew 24, Luke 21) prophesy that pestilence will be a sign indicating the nearing end of this age of grace as the tribulation wrath of the Revelation prophecies draw closer.

These events and conditions happening now are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
