Covid-19 Hotspots Erupting In Farm Belt States

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryNews

There were those who thought large parts of the US farm belt had escaped the ravages of the coronavirus without the enforced shelter-in-place policies common on both coasts.

But now, coronavirus cases are erupting there, threatening local populations that don’t always have easy access to the same health care as more urban areas.

And the outbreaks are striking the heart of the nation’s farming and meatpacking industry, potentially disrupting the national distribution of food.

As meat processing plants are closing down and truckers who move food across the country are sidelined by illness.

There are worrisome signs throughout the farm belt.

A pork processing plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota’s most populous city, was forced to close after about 240 employees contracted the virus.

The only hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska, is full. The mayor has asked for a statewide stay-at-home order but the governor insists it isn’t needed. At least 28 workers at JBS USA beef plant, Grand Island’s largest employer, have tested positive.

While more than one-third of those tested for coronavirus in the surrounding county are positive — and there aren’t enough tests to go around.

And new cases there and in Iowa, South Dakota and other parts of the farm heartland are starting to spike, raising concern about new hot spots.

Over the last few days, confirmed cases have increased more than 30 percent in North Dakota, 22 percent in Arkansas, 26 percent in Oklahoma, and 260 percent in South Dakota. That compares to roughly 26 percent over the same period in New York, the epicenter of the pandemic.

Iowa has just reported its single largest daily jump in confirmed cases — roughly half stemming from an outbreak at the Tyson Foods plant in Columbus Junction. Company officials closed the facility, one of the nation’s largest pork processing plants.

It seems that the virus may be just reaching the farm belt as cases are erupting there.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24) describe both pestilences and famines together as signs that would indicate the beginning of the end of this age of grace called the “beginning of sorrows.”

These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before.
