New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said that the people and not faith in God are responsible for the COVID-19 cases in his state seemingly hitting a plateau.

As governor of the state that has been by far the most affected by the pandemic of pestilence, Cuomo stressed that the number of new coronavirus cases is down “because we brought the number down.”

Out of the blue in his coronavirus pandemic updates, Cuomo said “God did not do that. Faith did not do that. Destiny did not do that.” He stressed, “A lot of pain and suffering did that.”

The governor stated that the data is a “direct result of what we do.” He warned that if people “do something stupid,” the numbers will “go right back up tomorrow.”

In an interview the next day, Cuomo reiterated his claim: “Our behavior has stopped the spread of the virus,” he said. ”God did not stop the spread of the virus. And what we do, how we act, will dictate how that virus spreads.”

The governor said, “We changed the trajectory of the virus by our actions, and that’s the real important lesson to me.”

Previously as New York Governor, Cuomo had also vowed to pass a bill through the New York State Legislature that removed abortion from the state’s criminal code guaranteeing rights to abortion.

And Cuomo signed the New York Reproductive Health Act into law at a celebratory reception in the Governor’s Executive Mansion.

The bill made it legal for doctors and other health care professionals, such as midwives and physician assistants, to perform abortions up until birth for any reason in the state.

Cuomo also is warning now that more progress is needed before safety restrictions for coronavirus can be lifted. He extended the state’s COVID-19 stay-at-home order until May 15.

New York has been the extreme hot-spot for covid-19 in the U.S., and so far, has had over a quarter million coronavirus cases diagnosed with nearly 15,000 deaths.
