Lonar Lake, a meteorite crater lake formed thousands of years ago in western Maharashtra, India, has turned red overnight leaving people there stunned.

The lake is located about 500 km (310 miles) from the financial capital Mumbai and is a famous hotspot for environmentalists and tourists.

Photos of the lake’s color transformation began making rounds on social media where it turned from its normal green color to a red.

Geologists theorize that salinity in the lake increased as the water level had gone down with the water becoming warmer resulting in an overgrowth of algae.

Others guessed that somehow the color change is linked to reduced human activity due to the coronavirus lockdown as a reason for speeding up natural processes at the lake. The real reason is currently unknown.

The Lonar Meteorite Crater Lake is classified as a National Geo-heritage monument and has a maximum length of about 6000 feet and a maximum depth of 490 feet.

Lonar Lake was formed when a meteor hit the earth and is the Earth’s largest and only hyper-velocity impact crater in basaltic rock.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21, Revelation 8, Revelation 16) foretell that in the Last Days there will be signs from the heavens to the earth and that water on the earth will become as blood indicating the nearing end of this age.
