Fears of an unprecedented “Fukushima-style” nuclear disaster have spread rapidly when part of Europe’s largest nuclear plant in Ukraine caught on fire as Russian forces shelled the nuclear plant compound.
Amid a stream of alarm and confusion during the incident, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky gave an emotional statement to his nation and all of Europe in an overnight video address, saying “If there is an explosion – that’s the end for everyone. The end for Europe. The evacuation of Europe.”
Zelensky went on to say “Only urgent action by Europe can stop the Russian troops. Do not allow the death of Europe from a catastrophe at a nuclear power station.”
U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm tweeted that the Zaporizhzhia plant’s reactors were protected by robust containment structures and were being safely shut down.
Still, the description from the scene painted troubling images.
Where nuclear plant spokesman Andriy Tuz told Ukrainian television that Russian shelling was falling directly on the facility and had set fire to one of its six reactors.
But said that this particular reactor was under renovation and not operating, but said there is nuclear fuel inside.
Firefighters could not get near the flames because they were being shot at, and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted a plea to the Russians to stop the assault and allow fire teams inside the nuclear power plant.
Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine tweeted “If it blows up, it will be 10 times larger than Chornobyl!”
Comparisons to Russia’s Chernobyl nuclear disaster are being made, were 28 people were killed by the Chernobyl disaster, but thousands more have died from cancer as a result of radiation that spread after the explosion and fire. The effects of radiation on the environment and humans is still being studied.
But experts are saying that the worst case scenario now at Zaporizhzhia is that the incident could result in a “Fukushima-style meltdown.”
In the Fukushima nuclear incident, a massive earthquake and tsunami in 2011 destroyed the plant’s cooling systems, triggering the meltdown of three reactors and the release of large amounts of radiation, and causing more than 160,000 people to evacuate.
Because the fire from the Russian shelling in the Zaporizhzhia nuclear facility threatened to disrupt the plant’s cooling operations, the danger was similar in this Ukrainian incident.
Russia, which is the territory of the ancient aggressive barbarian tribes of Gog of Magog north of the Caucasus Mountains at the roof of the world, is exerting the dominion of its Last Days prophetic role foretold in Biblical Prophecy.
And it is foretold that they will bring Ukraine under their dominion in the Last Days and then they will ultimately turn on Israel and attempt to invade their northern border also, triggering end-time prophetic events.
The Biblical prophecies (Ezekiel 38, Ezekiel 39, Matthew 24) foretell of wars and rumors of wars, and that Magog Russia will take military action that ultimately affects Israel in the Last Days signaling we are nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before. If each of our viewers would give a donation, no matter the amount, you will help ensure the signs of Biblical prophecy continue to be shared here with the world.
