After an extraordinary scene of rioting at the US Capitol which forced the Legislature to flee, upon reconvening last night the US Congress voted in the early morning hours of today to certify the results of the presidential election.
While a group of Republican lawmakers challenged the results in Arizona and Pennsylvania, those objections did not withstand a vote in either the House of Representatives or the Senate.
And Congress then certified the electoral votes making Joe Biden the 46th president of the United States.
Vice President Mike Pence declared: “The votes for president of the United States are as follows: Joseph R. Biden, Jr. of the State of Delaware has receive 306 votes. Donald J. Trump of the state of Florida has received 232 votes.”
Pence continued: “The announcement of the state of the vote, by the president of the Senate, shall be deemed a sufficient declaration of the persons elected president and vice president of the United States each for the term beginning on the 20th day of January, 2021.”
The initial first session of Congress to review the electoral votes was abruptly ended at approximately 1:40 p.m. when the Capitol was breeched forcing lawmakers to flee.
Chaos ensued as rioters clashed with police, broke windows, and ransacked congressional offices. At least one person was shot and killed during the siege, three other people also died and more than a dozen law enforcement officers were injured.
After Capitol Police cleared the building late into the afternoon, Lawmakers returned to the Capitol around 8 p.m. to resume the process and complete their work according to the Constitution.
Vice President Mike Pence, who returned from the siege of the capital from a secure location to preside over the joint session of Congress to certify the electoral votes said: “To those who wreaked havoc at our Capitol today, you did not win. Violence never wins. Freedom wins. And this is still the people’s house.”
The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21, 2 Timothy 3) foretell that there will be a time of division with offenses and bitterness that will happen as signs of the Last Days indicating the nearing end of this age.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
