An Islamist terrorist at the Louvre Museum in Paris has charged at French soldiers with a machete while shouting “Allahu Akbar!” He was shot down immediately.
The U.S. President said “A new radical Islamic terrorist has just attacked in Louvre Museum in Paris,” Trump tweeted. “Tourists were locked down. France on edge again. GET SMART U.S.”
It was reported the attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar” — the phrase common among jihadis when attacking. The French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the attack was “terrorist in nature.” One soldier sustained a head injury in the attack.
Reportedly the suspect is in his 30s and with Egyptian identity papers who recently arrived in France.
During the attack, hundreds of visitors were in the Louvre and were held in secure areas of the museum, before they were gradually evacuated.
