There is no more dangerous situation for Israel and the Middle East than an attack on the Temple Mount, which also to Muslims is the Haram al-Sharif, site of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Such a scenario is the stuff of nightmares for Israeli defense officials who since the 1967 Six-Day War took control of Jerusalem.
Simmering Tensions At Jerusalem Holy Site
It is possible that either a serious Muslim attack or also an attack by extremist Jews on the Temple Mount could set the entire Muslim world of the Middle East on fire.
It could also lay ground work for the prophecy of the Battle of Armageddon that is not only between Islam and the Jews but also engulfs the nations of the world.
But Israeli security had previously always been less concerned about a Muslim attack on the Temple Mount, since the Haram al-Sharif is sacred to them, and actually had more feared an attack by extremist Jews.
Israeli security forces have prevented such attacks over the years with only limited numbers of Jews allowed on the Temple Mount. Restricting them to small groups within certain hours and only visiting after thorough security clearance review.
Although the possibility that armed Muslims might storm the compound had been taken into consideration, it was never a priority by Israeli security for which to prepare. But that is what happened.
In an extraordinarily brazen assault, three Arabs armed with guns and knives attacked and killed Israeli police officers at Jerusalem’s holiest site for Jews and Muslims.
Security camera footage showed the armed assailants emerging within the sacred compound in the Old City of Jerusalem that Jews revere as the Temple Mount and Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary where they attacked Israeli police killing two. Then police officers pursued the assailants within the compound and exchanged gunfire with the three assailants killing them.
Behind The Scenes Battle Over Who Controls The Temple Mount
As a result of the attack, Israel made the rare move of closing the holy site to Muslim prayers and then the Temple Mount was only reopened with new security measures in place. Metal detectors and X-ray machines were installed at the entrances for Muslims going to pray which greatly slowed the number entering.
But the Waqf officials (the Islamic holy site guardian organization controlled by Jordan) arriving at the holy site refused to enter the compound contending that the introduction of metal detectors at the entrances constituted a significant Israeli violation of the status quo at the site. This also resulted in Arab riots in the streets.
This is also a sign of the behind the scenes battle over who controls the Temple Mount which has been increasingly raging. For many years the status quo has been Israel is responsible for security controlling access to the site, but Israeli sovereignty has not been implemented on the Temple Mount leaving it to the Waqf.
But now with this latest violent Temple Mount incident, there are greater calls and movement within Israel to assert more influence on the holy site. Until just a decade ago, most rabbis prohibited Jews from ascending the Temple Mount for religious purposes. Now recently, more rabbis have urged their followers to visit resulting in more Jews trying to get there increasing Muslim suspicions and fears.
However, Muslim countries as Jordan and Turkey are competing, pushing strongly to exert more control on the holy site with Turkey even trying to buy influence, and some distantly supported radical Islamic groups trying to establish themselves as well.
Jewish-Arab Jerusalem Contention Leads To Anti-christ Battle Of Armageddon
The signs of Jewish-Arab contention over the Jerusalem Temple Mount are growing stronger which are Signs of the Last Days Prophecy that foretell the Jerusalem issue will become so severe, it will bring forward a charismatic leader from the revived Roman Empire with an interim peace plan that is embraced by both the Jews and Muslims. The world will adore and praise him for this accomplishment.
But this successful world leader will in time turn on the Israelis for their dogmatic insistence on having Jerusalem and adhering to their ancient Jewish Temple practices. His dark thoughts and actions will lead to Satan possessing and transforming him into the Anti-christ, as he breaks the covenant with the Jews persecuting them while also confiscating their rebuilt Jewish Temple as his own – an abomination to the Jews and the Lord God.
These actions against Israel, their Temple, and God, will propel the world into a great tribulation that builds with such hatred and conflict that Armageddon is realized. The fires of this hellish Armageddon battle are simmering now at the Jerusalem holy site.

The Anti-christ will only deceive the world that he has peace for them, rather leading them to the greatest war battle ever in the waning Last Days of human government.
But the true Christ Jesus will return and put down the Anti-christ and his war, while establishing the most beautiful era of peace in the world – the Kingdom of God.
