After Florida officials were able to begin reviewing the impact of Hurricane Ian, the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis, used the word “Biblical” to describe the destruction they had experienced.
The destructive storm hit Florida with punishing winds of 150 miles per hour and an estimated storm surge of 12 to 18-feet.
Only now as rescue teams sift through the massive destruction is it coming to light how this is one of the most impactful storms in U.S. history.
Ian made landfall in the Fort Myers area as a Category 4 hurricane. The ferocious 150-mph winds pushed ashore a wall of water many feet high from the Gulf of Mexico that tore through homes and businesses along the coast.
With the storm surge rolling in like a tidal wave over the flat lands of Florida’s coast and up it’s rivers and canals demolishing whatever was in it’s path.
There were bridges and overpasses that were badly damaged cutting off people on islands and the streets were turned into rivers with roiling currents of water.
Sadly, the death toll has reached over 100 people and is still rising. And the full scope of the disaster is still coming into view even a week after the storm.
Millions of people are without electricity and water while many communities are being viewed as uninhabitable as people are in exodus and being rescued.
Many are still missing and the death toll is certainly expected to increase. As search and rescue teams continue their work and support organizations as the Red Cross help survivors many of whom have lost all they had.
Extreme weather continues to increase with this level of severe winds and water surge causing catastrophic destruction that is eliciting the word “Biblical” in the words of officials describing the destruction experienced.
Indeed, things are going “Biblical” on the earth.
The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21, Revelation 16) foretell that extreme weather as intense heat, the sea and the waves roaring, and giant hailstones will happen in the Last Days signaling we are nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
