After having previously allowed participation by homosexuals, the Boy Scouts of America announced they will also be accepting transgenders.
The Scouts’ policy change came in a written and video statement released by Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh.
After more than a hundred years of the Scouts using information on an individual’s birth certificate to determine eligibility to join its programs, they now accept registration in scouting programs based on the gender identity provided on an individual’s application.
