Calif. Gov. Issues Rules For Churches To Open But Under Severe Restrictions

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryNews

California Governor Newsom has issued rules for churches and other houses of worship to be able to open in California after he ordered them closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

But under the state guidelines for opening up the churches there are severe restrictions.

First of all the guidance says that churches do not have to open and actually strongly recommends that places of worship continue to have remote services.

Next of all, the guidance says that it is up to each county’s public health department’s approval of religious services within their jurisdictions.

Then for those churches that do open, the guidance puts severe restrictions on the churches. The following are some of the restrictions:

  • Places of worship must limit attendance to 25% of building capacity or 100 attendees, whichever is lower
  • Shorten services to limit the length of time congregants/visitors spend at facilities
  • Close or restrict common areas
  • Discontinue gatherings that encourage congregants/visitors to travel and break physical distancing
  • Reconfigure seating, podiums and speaker areas for at least 6 feet between people
  • Strongly recommended to wear face masks
  • Limiting the number of people that use the restroom at one time
  • Discourage handshakes and hugs
  • Discontinuing singing and group recitation
  • Congregants should be screened for temperature and other symptoms
  • Offering plates should not be passed
  • Sharing of song and prayer books is discouraged
  • and there are others

But many religious leaders said the guidelines didn’t change anything. That churches and places of worship across California are suffering because government leaders chose to marginalize and criminalize faith-based gatherings.

One pastor said in a statement, “If we are to remain free, we must never allow this to happen again.”

But the mayor of Los Angeles described how they view that churches are among the most dangerous of places during the covid-19 outbreak and it was not being responsible for them to open up.

However churches and their representatives are saying abortion clinics and liquor stores have been deemed essential and are open, yet religious services have been discriminated against and restricted.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24) describe that pestilence will be a sign which indicates the beginning of the end of this age of grace, and that tribulation or trouble will come to believers at that time.

These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before.
