Companies Slam Texans With Electric Bills Over $8000 After Arctic Storm

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryGeneral

After a historic winter storm raged across Texas this week, some people are now getting hit with outrageous electric power bills.

In Texas’ hyper-charged market for electricity, some power companies make money by charging their customers a flat monthly fee like $9.99, and then selling them the power at its going wholesale value.

And according to data from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which manages the state’s power grid, the price of getting the power back is going to be steep for some Texans.

Where the market prices on the power grid spiked more than 10,000 percent in the aftermath of the deep freeze. Prices skyrocketed to more than $9,000 per megawatt-hour—compared to the pre-storm prices of less than $50 per hour.

And one customer says his bill has skyrocketed over $7,000 in the last two days. Where as of Wednesday, he owed $8,162.73 for the month of February—a shocking price considering the bill for his two-story house was $387.70 just last month.

The customer said “It’s mind blowing. I honestly didn’t believe the price at first. It’s not a great feeling knowing that there is a looming bill that we just can’t afford.”

Another customer said she was initially confused when her bill was $450 for one day and then shocked when she realized her bill had increased by another $2,500. When in comparison, she paid $33.93 last year for the entire month of February.

She said “I don’t have that type of money… This is going to put me in debt, this is going to mess up my credit. Are they going to cut me off? In the middle of this ongoing crisis?”

But she is not alone. Many customers are blasting certain wholesale power companies in Texas for their outrageously high bills amid a winter disaster.

Likewise an emergency medical physician at a hospital in Houston said they have seen a dramatic increase in patients during the unusual arctic storm in south Texas from cases of carbon monoxide poisoning.

As people have taken drastic measures to try to stay warm from running vehicles in garages to attempting to use outdoor grills in the home.

He said this is a public health emergency and he is outraged it’s exacerbated by the greed of electrical companies with no compassion or grace for people.

The Biblical prophecies foretell that there will be extreme weather in the Last Days (Luke 21, Revelation 8, Revelation 11, Revelation 16) as the earth’s weather will continue to intensify.

And that there will also be an increase of stress in society (Luke 21) as there will be distress and perplexity with people’s hearts failing them from fear of the things coming upon the earth—all signaling we are nearing the end of this age.

These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before.
