Authorities are concerned an outbreak of plague is becoming out of control as families are refusing to hand over infectious bodies and victims are avoiding doctors in Madagascar.
Pneumonic plague – a relative of the medieval Black Death – can kill in as little as 24 hours and though the medication to treat the plague is free, aid workers revealed many are refusing to seek help.
They are afraid to go to the doctor because even a simple cough can be diagnosed as plague and people are afraid of that.
Also, there is a lack of an “official” plague burial system in the country meaning many families don’t know what to do with their dead.
And compounding the situation is that among communities in Madagascar the plague is being spread by ancient rituals performed by families and then they don’t want to give back the body.
This has now prompted the intervention of the police with them having to seize infected corpses.
Unfortunately, the number of cases have continued to rise and emergency disease outbreak experts fear the plague will reach other areas in Africa.
These are Signs of the Last Days Prophecies foretold by Jesus Christ in Matthew 24 that in the Last Days there will be the pestilence of disease outbreaks revealing the nearness of the end of the age and the world entering the Great Tribulation of earth.
