Guns in the streets; animosity in hearts; and God put out of a secular society. It’s an explosive scenario manifesting itself again and again with unthinkable violence in America. Its also a call to do what needs to be done.
There will, again, be the arguments in a divided congress about gun control and what should be done to quell such violence in our streets. But while they argue, the numbers of those of our citizenry killed and wounded keep topping the previous numbers in progressively more violent incidents.
Now, another new record in 2017 from a concert at Las Vegas on how many were killed (59) and wounded (over 500) in a single incident for out of control violence.
Before that there was Orlando, Florida, in June, 2016, killing 49 people and injuring 53 others. Before that there was such violence in San Bernardino, California on Dec., 2015, and then Newtown, Connecticut, at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 2012 that included 20 first graders in the dead.
Before those came Aurora, Colorado, on July, 2012 with a high count at a movie theater, and before that came Blacksburg, Virginia, on April, 2007, with another high loss of life at Virginia Tech.
And the list goes on and on…. And as you look at it, it seems to be the young people that are dying the most, from college age all the way down to elementary school.
But when you look at when the mass shooting phenomenon took hold in America, and also when God and prayer got the boot from an America that decided to go secular, there is a connection.
In 1963 the Supreme Court of America established the prohibition on prayer to God in U.S. schools, overriding over a 100 years of precedent.
And then the mass killings took root in America soon after that in the very same decade. Just do a quick Google and see.
So, would laws from Congress, that took away every gun from every citizen, prevent such violence from happening again? Or would someone just turn to a knife or vehicle attack instead?
Or could it be there is something else that is in the hearts of humankind – or more importantly missing from them – that is driving the occurrence of such hateful violence.
Yes, we need a law written that can stop this insane violence.
But not on the paper of Congress written by Senators, but rather the laws of the Holy Word of God written again upon the fleshly tablets of the human hearts of our populace by the Holy Spirit.
This Las Vegas mass shooting is yet another call to America’s leadership for returning the Lord God back to His rightful place in our Christian society as He was before, with prayer and Holy Scripture reading first in all things.
Then there would start to be a turn around.
But today we are sad for Las Vegas. I prayed for the victims and their families, and I prayed for America, that we could stop seeing days like these.
Days such as there were in the time of Noah, where Jesus said this all happened before. (Genesis 6)
He foretold that “… as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matthew 24)
