The sound of a motorcycle backfiring sparked widespread panic in Times Square as huge crowds fled in fear mistaking the noise as gunfire.

In the wake of recent mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, chaos quickly ensued as people raced to escape what they thought was an active shooter carrying out an attack.

Many people reported hearing the bangs sending people stampeding in fear, then more reacted to the crowds screaming and running, as others who didn’t know what was going on simply followed suit, confused and scared.

Witnesses called it a stampede as people ran away from the area streets into restaurants, stores and even theaters. Several pedestrians were hurt in the panicked rush. NYPD officials said some 22 people were injured, four of whom were sent to a nearby hospital.

At the play “To Kill a Mockingbird” on Broadway, some of the screaming people fleeing the scene stormed into the Schubert Theater.

As the stampede made its way into the theater, patrons in fear hid under their seats as the cast of the production also fled the stage in fear. The production did not continue.

Nearby at restaurants, patrons dove under tables as those escaping Times Square made their panicked way into the restaurants.

Some crawled on the ground as they made their way from the street to the door. Inside, patrons were packed together sitting on the floor, shoulder to shoulder amid spilled drinks knocked over in the chaos.

People were literally running out of their shoes, dropping their bags, jumping over counters, even trampling those who couldn’t keep up. Lots of children were crying. Abandoned shoes and purses could be seen on and around outdoor tables.

Although Times Square always has a noticeable police presence, additional NYPD units quickly arrived on the scene due to the flood of 911 calls that came in.

The doctor who is the chair of psychiatry at Columbia University, told CBS News that the cumulative effects of mass shootings is producing high levels of anxiety and fear across the country.

The Biblical Prophecies of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24) foretold that violence as the days of Noah in Genesis chapter 6 would be a sign of the Last Days revealing we are nearing the end of this age.

These events and conditions are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all these things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy that comes upon the world of disobedience, as the born again Church is appointed instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
