In a chaotic scene, U.S. Capitol police and local police engaged in a shoot-out with a gunman who fired upon members of Congress where a congressional baseball team was practicing for a charity event.
At least five people were hospitalized including congress members, staffers, and capital police.
The gunman, James Hodgkinson, later died from his wounds received in return fire from police. Initial reports describe him as a person angry over Trump’s election as president and a campaign supporter of Bernie Sanders.
