Hurricane Dorian has now become historic with 185 to 220 mph winds as a maximum category 5+ storm that is the strongest ever recorded storm at the Bahamas.

The National Hurricane Center said Hurricane Dorian struck the northwestern Bahamas today with maximum sustained winds around the eye of the storm at 185 miles an hour and wind gusts at 220 miles an hour making it a “catastrophic” storm with “devastating winds.”

The National Hurricane Center also said it had recorded wind gusts exceeding 220 miles an hour — three times the wind speed to qualify as a hurricane. Officials said the storm was the strongest ever on record in the islands.

It also ranks as one of the strongest storms ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean. And the storm’s peak sustained winds are the strongest ever so far north in the Atlantic Ocean east of Florida on record.

Its pressure, down to 911 millibars, is significantly lower than Hurricane Andrew’s when it made landfall in south Florida in 1992 (the lower the pressure, the stronger the storm), and data taken by Hurricane Hunter aircraft flying inside the storm show that Dorian is still intensifying.

There’s great concern for the people there as meteorologists also warned of a storm surge that would raise water levels 20 feet above normal, along with more than two feet of rainfall. And much of the island nation is low-lying.

As residents hunkered down in emergency shelters as schools and churches there was concern some would brave the storm where they live like in the shantytowns with plywood houses that cannot withstand hurricane-force winds and are prone to flooding.

The British Royal Navy has deployed the aid ship, RFA Mounts Bay, to offer support there during the hurricane, according to the British Ministry of Defense press office. And the ship is capable of carrying amphibious vehicles and a helicopter for rescue and survey operations.

The storm is still moving slowly toward Florida and the Southeast United States, but its exact track remains uncertain.

And the forecast is a nail-biter with computer forecast scenarios involving a direct hit, a graze or a near miss appearing equally likely based on available forecasts. This storm is very unpredictable and very dangerous.

So the Hurricane Center is warning all the US Southeast coast to watch the hurricane closely because the hurricane has become so large that any deviation of the track could bring the dangerous winds closer to them.

The hope and prayer is that it will turn northward so that it will remain just off the U.S. coast so to miss the full fury of such a severe and dangerous hurricane.

President Trump upon returning to the White House in Washington, accompanied by Rear Admiral Peter Brown of the US Coast Guard, said Dorian is now a Category 5 storm and called the hurricane “one of the biggest hurricanes we’ve ever seen.”

With 185 mph maximum sustained winds, Hurricane Dorian is the strongest storm anywhere on the planet this year.

And the strongest recorded storm ever over the Bahamas. And with Hurricane Dorian strengthening into a strong Category 5 makes it four years in a row that there has been a Category 5 storm in the Atlantic Basin, a historic first since satellite measurements began.

Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all these things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy that comes upon the world of disobedience, as the born again Church is not appointed to wrath but appointed instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
