In Abilene, first responders found a 60-year-old man dead in his home. His wife, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, said they hadn’t had power for three days in the winter storm of extreme cold.
Fire department members said that it felt as cold inside the home as outside.
A San Antonio man left his house for a dialysis appointment — but he never arrived. His wife found him unresponsive nearly two hours later in the frigid weather with his death evidently from exposure to the extreme cold.
In Houston, two people died and another two were rushed to the hospital, after the family ran their car for warmth inside a closed garage.
Also in the Houston area, an 11-year-old boy who came to the U.S. from Honduras two years ago with his mother, died in bed as temperatures plunged to near single digits and homes across the state lost power.
In Galveston County the Medical Examiner’s Office requested a refrigerated storage truck to help accommodate the overflow of bodies.
Where officials said there were at least 20 people who had died over just two days of the brutally cold weather and lingering power outage. And they said there might be as many as 50 bodies to store, far beyond the storage capacity of the medical examiner’s office.
The order for additional storage put into perspective how great the toll has been that the winter storm has taken on county residents on the Gulf Coast in a few days.
Across Texas, deaths related to the winter storm continued to mount this week amid freezing temperatures, widespread power outages and a scarcity of clean water.
While there have been reports that dozens of deaths are tied to the storm in Texas, experts say the death toll is likely far higher.
But it could be weeks or months before the true magnitude is known. As the slow process of a statewide survey of deaths caused by the storm is underway. But the state won’t have a good indication until death certificates are filed.
The Biblical prophecies foretell that there will be extreme weather in the Last Days (Luke 21, Revelation 8, Revelation 11, Revelation 16) as the earth’s weather will continue to intensify—signaling we are nearing the end of this age.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
