Experts say futuristic weaponry as “Terminators” or so-called “killer robots” are ready to become a reality.
Over 1,000 artificial intelligence (AI) experts and leading researchers have signed a letter warning of a “military artificial intelligence arms race” and called for a ban on “offensive autonomous weapons.”
The letter, presented at the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, was signed by Tesla’s Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Google DeepMind chief executive Demis Hassabis and professor Stephen Hawking along with 1,000 AI and robotics researchers.
The letter states that AI technology has reached a point where the deployment of autonomous weapons is – practically if not legally – feasible within years, not decades, and that the stakes are high.
AI autonomous weapons have been described as the third revolution in warfare, after gunpowder and nuclear arms, and that such offensive weapons that operate on their own would lower the threshold of going to battle and result in greater loss of human life.
If such AI weaponry were developed and deployed capable of selecting targets and operating autonomously without direct human control, it would start an arms race similar to the one for the atom bomb;but unlike nuclear weapons AI requires no specific hard-to-create materials and would be difficult to monitor.
Futuristic weaponry such as so-called “killer robots” that would escalate lethality in war zones has thus far not realized nation state support for a ban on the development of these AI autonomous weapons despite calls from various pressure groups.
This is another Sign of the Last Days prophecies pointing to how mankind continues to develop increasingly lethal weapons for wars that produce death on the Biblical scale of Revelation.
The last days Daniel 12 prophecy says that “knowledge shall increase” until humankind has pushed the weapons technology envelope so far in the Last Days, that the Revelation 9 prophecy describes terrible weapons of war as insects and animals made of iron that kill “a third of mankind.”
