A Sign of the Times is that in the last days there will be great spiritual activity by the Lord. Around the world, people are now coming to Jesus Christ through his Holy Spirit. A Sign of the Times is the Holy Spirit being poured out by God upon the world in the last days.
It is happening as the prophets of old said in Joel 2 and Acts 2:
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days;”
The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 24 that “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Many of the signs of the times in the latter days are perilous and troubling, but in the midst of these signs as war, persecution, earthquakes or famine, there is also the sign of the Gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
The sign of the gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus is that in these last days there is great preaching and teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ with signs following. That is telling the good news of salvation in Jesus and of his soon return and coming Kingdom. This will be empowered by God so to be a witness of Him around the world. As the spirit of anti-christ lawlessness is rising in the world, there is also a time of great spiritual activity of God, where people believe in Jesus, are baptized in His Name, and the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ is poured into people’s soul; and people are delivered and healed by God. And this sign is happening in the countries of the world just as Jesus foretold in the last days.
The Church age began in Scripture when Jesus started his Church on a Jewish feast day called Pentecost, when people from around the world came to Jerusalem. We read about this event in the 2nd chapter of the Book of Acts of the Apostles. There we read the Lord Jesus had told all his Disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the Promise of the Father where they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit. And there they received power when the Holy Spirit had come upon them so to be witnesses of Jesus to the end of the earth.
And the scriptures tells us in Acts 3 to “ Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things.”
And we are living in the times of restoration of all things to the Church of Jesus Christ and his Apostles. Where incrementally people have been breaking away from church apostasy and escaping from pseudo-christianity and being restored to the pure truth of the teachings of Jesus Christ and his Apostles.
In this last millennium of the Gentile age that restoration has occurred with protestors such as Martin Luther, Tyndale, Calvin, Knox, Wesley and others; who protested for reform as Protestants and printed the Bible putting the Scripture back into the hands of the people. There were the Pilgrims coming to America wanting freedom to worship God as Christians. This Christian freedom led to a great awakening with great revivals where people were step by step restored to the knowledge of the Spirit and Truth.
Just as Jesus said in John 4:23-24, “ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
And great spiritual revivals spread from the likes of Azusa Street across religious denominations throughout the world with people being born again as Jesus Said in John 3 with the new birth experience with that same Holy Spirt from Jesus as from Pentecost in Acts 2.
Yes, the darkness of evil is growing in the world with the spirit of iniquity or lawlessness of the Antichrist becoming stronger until he is revealed. But the spirit of God and His Grace is even stronger restraining it still yet, for where sin doth abound grace doth much more abound. And people around the world are coming to Christ in these last days in great revivals.
Such as throughout South America like in Brazil, where it’s reported that spirit-filled churches have grown exponentially and traditional churches have been baptized with the Spirit and now adopting Pentecostal practices. And it’s happened in Africa too, with great revival such as in Ethiopia where recently evangelicals have grown from 5 to 20 percent of the population. Now even in Islamic areas as Northern Africa that had been hostile to Christianity, it’s reported there are great breakthroughs with thousands coming to the Lord; such as in Algeria, which has now given more freedom to protestant churches. Another revival hotspot is China, with waves of Chinese coming to Christianity so much so that now the Chinese country leadership is up and getting concerned and persecuting them, but that’s just fanning the flames of revival.
It’s a Sign of the Times where God is pouring out his spirit on mankind unreservedly and without measure before the end of the Church Age. And that grace is being received as we look for the appearing of Jesus in the clouds to rapturously catch away his Church.
