Americans are lining up in historic numbers at food banks across the country this week ahead of Thanksgiving as the COVID pandemic brings hard times for millions of people who have food insecurity after losing jobs.
As the Thanksgiving holiday draws closer, news reports from states around the U.S. indicate that more Americans face food insecurity now than at any time in recent decades.
At the Meadowlands entertainment complex in New Jersey residents waited for several hours to obtain prepackaged boxes of meals for the Thanksgiving holiday.
One distraught woman at a food bank in East Rutherford, N.J., said: “If it wasn’t for this place, we wouldn’t know where we would get our food.”
A report from the Rhode Island Community Food Bank said that as many as one in four households in the state was facing food insecurity, while food banks in the state were faced with increase demand.
Food bank officials in Dallas, Texas also have noticed a staggering increase in demand for food assistance.
North Texas Food Bank representatives said that they handed out roughly 8,500 meals to local families during a giveaway on Saturday, that in years past has seen fewer than 1,000 show up for donations.
In San Jose, Calif., the program manager of a local charity, said that demand for food assistance from city residents had more than tripled over the course of 2020.
The CEO of a Santa Cruz County charity said, “We’re serving 70% more people. 40% of the people who are coming have never ever looked for food assistance before. So it’s been staggering.”
The Biblical Prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21) foretell that pestilence and famine will be signs of the Last Days indicating the nearing end of this age.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
