The on-going devastation of flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area continues to drive residents out of their homes and communities into shelters.
Evacuations are continuing across the area of the Houston region as fears are realized from overflowing water levels of the bayous and rivers reaching never before seen record levels.
As flooding continued to ravage the city, in a press conference Houston Mayor Turner said they are opening more mega-shelters so that no one will be turned away.
Houston had already opened the George R. Brown Convention Center as a mega-shelter but in short order it has been maxed out with 10,000 evacuees.
Now they have opened another mega-shelter in downtown Houston at the Toyota Center indoor arena, which is the home of the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association.
