Houston Mayor Turner announced he is imposing a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew in order to ensure public safety.

Also in order to protect people’s properties that have been evacuated so to prevent looting. There have been scattered reports of looting during the flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey.

The mayor also said at an evening news conference that there is no reason for people to be on the streets during those hours.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said violators will be stopped, questioned, searched and arrested.
