Many believe the name of Maria to mean “sea of bitterness” or “sea of sorrow.” And Hurricane Maria is certainly bringing a time of bitterness and sorrow putting misery onto misery.
But this is also a taste and sign of the coming Great Tribulation, with back-to-back disasters after disasters.
For now, after historic Hurricanes Harvey & Irma, who were also accompanied by a strong earthquake; comes another unusual maximum Category 5 hurricane called Maria, also accompanied by another second destructive earthquake in Mexico.
Could it be that a message is being sent to North America?… which has had one rare event after another since its rare eclipse?
Another Category 5 storm with howling destructive winds of 175 mph that obliterates islands is coming, and in Puerto Rico they are bracing for the wrath of the most powerful hurricane ever to hit there.
Puerto Rico, who was spared Irma’s wrath when that hurricane’s core passed north of the island, had became an island of refuge for people who fled the destruction of Hurricane Irma when other islands were wiped out.
For example, there was Jessica and Bob who came to San Juan from St. Thomas with their two children after Irma destroyed everything around them and threw the island into chaos.
It took them six days to get off St. Thomas, they said, killing chickens for food and making their way through areas being looted. They got to Puerto Rico by catamaran like many others.
Now they are coping with the reality that they’ve escaped one disaster to be into the middle of Hurricane Maria’s angry path. When asked what they plan to do, the answer was “survive.”
This very real situation is a sign and microcosm of what it will be like on earth during the wrath of the Great Tribulation, prophesied to come at the end of this age of grace after Jesus catches away His Church.
For then there will be major disaster after disaster as great wars, storms, earthquakes, pestilence, and more happen across all the earth until humanity is so distressed they are reduced to the basic plan of surviving another day if they can.
In fact the prophecies describe that it will become so bad that people will say “who is able to stand” and endeavor to “hide themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.” (Revelation 6:12-17)
These are Signs of the Last Days Prophecies of Jesus Christ, for He foretold that signs such as horrific hurricanes would mark events in humankind that affected them. The Lord said “… And there shall be … distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring ….”(Luke 21:25)
These signs of the wrath of the coming Great Tribulation are yet again warning humankind that we live in the Last Days, at the end of this age of grace from Jesus Christ.
But still for now, “whosoever will” can be truly born-again of “water and of the Spirit” into the Kingdom of God, and enter into the Church of Jesus Christ as an ark of safety that will rise above the coming storm of Great Tribulation.
