As the threats are hurled between US President Trump and Iranian leaders, it’s also reported that Iran has quadrupled its uranium production after dropping out of key parts of the Iranian nuclear deal in a fresh rebuff of the Trump administration.

Iran’s increase in nuclear production threatens to escalate conflict with the US, CNBC reported. Iranian production of low enriched uranium has increased fourfold, a official in Natanz nuclear facility confirmed.

The move comes a week after Iran officially stopped some commitments under the international nuclear accord.

Under the Iranian nuclear agreement, Tehran was allowed to produce low-enriched uranium within a certain limit. But Iran said that the cap no longer applies as it scaled down commitments in reaction to US unilateral withdrawal from the deal.

So the centrifuges in the Iranian nuclear facilities are spinning up.

A lead sanctions expert for the US State Department team told CNBC: “The comparison here is they were already going 55 miles per hour and heading towards a busted bridge; So what the information is saying is that they threw a brick on the accelerator.”

He went on to say, “They would have eventually breached the threshold. What they’re saying today is they are deliberately and intentionally trying to breach the threshold faster.”

There has been fears that from Tehran’s activities they will develop a bomb that creates a nuclear Iran. But President Trump has said that he will not let that happen.
