Iranian Drones Attack U.S. Base In Syria

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryNews

United States officials have reported that Iranian drones attacked the U.S. base at al-Tanf in southern Syria where American troops are based.

The officials said the attack involved five drones laden with explosive charges, and that they hit both the US side of the al-Tanf garrison and the side where Syrian opposition forces reside.

There were no reported injuries or deaths as a result of the attack but it comes in a period of rising tensions between the US and Iran as the Biden administration has so far failed at diplomatic efforts to get Iran back into a nuclear deal.

The Pentagon spokesman said it was a complex, coordinated and deliberate attack the US has seen before from Iranian militia groups.

And the barrage of rockets and exploding drones caused considerable damage to the base, according to photographs that were circulated.

The Iranian drone attack on a U.S. military post in Syria may suggest that a new front could be opening in the low-level conflict that has simmered between the United States and Iran.

Pro-Iranian media trumpeted it as a “victory” in what would be the first major attack on U.S. troops in Syria by Iran.

The last major Iranian attack on US forces was in January 2020, when Tehran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles on al-Asad air base in Iraq.

US and coalition troops were warned of the incoming missiles and were able to take cover, but more than 100 US service members received traumatic brain injuries as a result of the blasts.

The Iran attack was in response to the US drone strike earlier that month near the Baghdad airport that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and their Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

The news outlets affiliated with Iran did not downplay the involvement of Tehran and its allied militias in this new drone attack. Instead, they touted the attack in commentaries as a major success and hinted that more strikes against U.S. troops in Syria will follow.

The al-Ahed website, affiliated with Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement, said the attack heralded the start of “a new phase in the confrontation” in which Iran and its allies would seek to liberate Syria from U.S. troops.

It noted that the American withdrawal from Afghanistan “happened only under the pressure of military operations and not political or diplomatic pressure.”

The Iranian escalation at the al-Tanf garrison is likely tied to the dimming prospects for a resumption of negotiations to renew the Iran nuclear accord.

But the US al-Tanf  outpost has long been a source of frustration to Iran as well as the Syrian government in Damascus.

The US Syrian base is located on a road near a key crossing on the Syrian-Iraqi border that serves as a vital link for Iranian-backed forces from Tehran all the way through Syria to southern Lebanon and Israel.

Iran has seen the US military recently withdraw from Afghanistan and there is also the upcoming departure of U.S. combat troops from Iraq planned at the end of December.

So they could be trying to increase the pressure on the U.S. forces that are left in Syria in order to press the US into a withdrawal from Syria as well.

Despite the efforts of Israel and US military forces in Iraq and Syria, the militias and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran are still firmly entrenched there.

The Biblical prophecies (Ezekiel 38) foretell that Persia, which is modern-day Iran, will have military troops at the northern mountainous border of Israel and together with their allies will attempt to invade Israel in the Last Days, signaling the world is nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.

These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

The prophecy has come true, the perilous times are here. The need is greater than ever before.
