Islamic Terrorists Bomb Churches Easter Services—Worst Attack On Christians In Asia

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryGeneral

As Christian believers flocked into churches to celebrate Resurrection Sunday, hundreds of Christians in Sri Lanka were slaughtered by bombs while in services on what is considered to be the holiest day.

Authorities say they were targeted by terrorists who were Islamist.

A local Islamic militant group reportedly bombed multiple churches in multiple cities in a planned and coordinated attack, killing hundreds and injuring hundreds more, in the Indian subcontinent.

And it’s reported people are still missing, mostly children, and with the government shutting down messaging apps and social media in the wake of the bombing, it has been more difficult for people to communicate.

Christian persecution is a growing and disturbing trend across the world.

Open Doors USA, which supports persecuted believers around the world, said ” We’re shocked. A religious attack of this scale, coordinated with this much detail, it’s unprecedented.”

David Curry, CEO of Open Doors USA, said “These coordinated attacks against churches in Sri Lanka were planned on Easter to strike fear in the hearts of Christians.”

Islamic terrorists have targeted Christians around Easter several times before. In 2017, twin church bombings in Egypt on Palm Sunday killed 45 Christians and injured more than a hundred. In 2016, 75 people were killed in an explosion in Lahore where Christians were celebrating Easter.

Open Doors says it’s definitely a trend they’re seeing, where in Islamic countries, Christians do run a higher risk of being attacked during Christian holy days.

They are calling this latest attack on Christians by Islamist terrorists, as the worst attack on Christians in Asia.

The overall death toll is nearly 300, with 500 more wounded.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24) foretold that Christians would become hated and persecuted as a sign of the Last Days indicating the coming end of the age and the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ.
