Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in a quick trip to Russia tells Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Golan is a red line for Israel. This is after Russian warplanes fired on Israeli jets and one intruded Israeli airspace crossing over the border of the disputed Golan Heights between Israel and Syria.
Netanyahu had just earlier declared that the Golan Heights, which they captured from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War, will forever be Israeli land. But Syria, with international support and the Russian military supporting their country, responded that Israel will never have the Golan. The Syrian Foreign Minister said that Syria is prepared to use every possible means to recapture the area, including military means.
Netanyahu’s previous declaration of the Golan forever belonging to Israel, and now declaring it as a red line to Russia, is goading the Russian Bear that is already actively pursuing military operations next door to Israel as it supports Syria who is still technically at war with Israel over the Golan.
