Israeli PM Netanyahu Fails To Form Government—New PM Designate Selected

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryNews

Israel’s long-standing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has failed again to form a government after Israel’s second election this year. Now a new Prime Minister-designate will be selected and given the opportunity to form a governing coalition.

His rival, Benny Gantz of the Blue and White party, will now be invited to attempt to form a government.

Israel’s historic second election in September saw Mr Netanyahu’s Likud party win 32 seats and Mr Gantz’s Blue and White party 33. But President Rivlin initially designated Mr Netanyahu, the incumbent, as the candidate with the best chance of successfully forming a coalition.

But Mr. Netanyahu, who has been in power for the past decade was unable to secure a majority after September’s elections failed to produce a clear winner.

Announcing the decision to abandon his efforts, Mr Netanyahu said he had tried repeatedly to form a coalition government but had been rebuffed. Now Mr. Gantz will be given the opportunity to carry out negotiations and see if he can form a government.

Israel’s president has suggested a so-called unity coalition of the two main parties. But that arrangement could see Mr Gantz as de facto prime minister, while Mr Netanyahu holds onto the position in name. But Gantz has thus far rejected the idea.

Gantz is a former head of the Israeli military, and served in that role while Netanyahu was prime minster. He was propelled to political leadership after forming his party this year saying that the country had “lost its way”.

Netanyahu is facing his own battle over corruption where while trying to negotiate his coalition in October, he also attended hearings with the attorney general over Netanyahu’s indictments for bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.

President Rivlin has said he would try to avoid calling another election in the country which has already voted in two this year. If Mr Gantz also fails, the parliament could put forward a dark horse third candidate in a final bid to avoid another election.

It’s unclear what will be the final outcome from this election in Israel, but when the normal course of nations and people are disrupted from their norm, the Unseen Hand of God can be at work.

And Israel as a nation of Biblical prophetic destiny, has been restored as a sign of the Last Days prophecies as foretold in the Ezekiel chapter 37 prophecy.

These events and conditions happening now are signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).

Preparing those Biblically born again into the Kingdom of God to be ready to escape all the things that will come to pass, in the wrath of the tribulation of Revelation prophecy, that comes upon the world of disobedience. As the born again Church is not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10) but instead to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
