Israel’s Defense Ministry announced that Israel’s secretive biological lab has made a breakthrough toward a covid-19 cure.

According to a statement by the Defense Ministry, Israel’s shadowy Biological Research Institute confirmed it has isolated an antibody it believes can be used to develop treatments against the coronavirus.

This development would not be for the creation of a vaccine, but would rather be used to develop drug treatments to cure those who have contracted the disease.

Israel’s Defense Ministry-run laboratory said it was the first in the world to reach three major milestones: 1) finding an antibody that destroys the virus; 2) that targets this coronavirus specifically; and 3) that is monoclonal, lacking additional proteins that can cause complications for patients.

Shuki Shemer, the head of Israel’s Assuta Medical Center and a former director general of the Health Ministry said that this is a real breakthrough involving scientific and technological capabilities of the first order.

Where they have produced an antibody that neutralizes the virus. But he also said that there’s still a long way to go in terms of testing and approval.

Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said this week after visiting the biological laboratory, “Jewish creativity and ingenuity brought about this amazing achievement. I am proud of the Biological Institute staff, who have made a major breakthrough.”

The Israel Institute for Biological Research laboratory is like Israel’s nuclear program. It operates secretly under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office and with the Defense Ministry.

Its history began at the founding of the State of Israel, and the classified work carried out by the secretive institute is a heavily guarded secret reinforced by military censorship.

The facility is tucked away in an orange grove in Ness Ziona that is surrounded by a high concrete wall topped with sensors, and armed guards patrolling its perimeter. No aircraft are allowed to overfly the facility, and its location is not listed on any map of the area.

Inside the facility, code words and visual identification control access to each area through numerous bombproof sliding doors with corridors inside the facility patrolled by guards. All employees and their families undergo intense health checks every month.

Now with the Israeli military researchers saying they have developed an antibody that will neutralize covid-19 in an existing patient’s body, this could help those already sick with the disease.

Israeli authorities said that now the development phase is completed for the antidote to covid-19 which aggressively attacks and kills the virus, they will approach international companies capable of producing it in commercial quantities.

The hope is that the Israeli antidote, if it can be approved and produced quickly enough, can play a major role in reducing the number of deaths from coronavirus around the world.
