The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.7 earthquake has struck about 14 miles northeast of Gonzales in Northern California.
The USGS says the epicenter was about 4 miles deep. The quake struck an area that appeared to be almost entirely wilderness or agricultural fields.
But the quake was also reportedly felt in the South Bay as well as other parts of the Bay Area.
The National Weather Service office in Monterey tweeted the quake was felt in their office, 25 miles southeast of the epicenter.
Police and fire officials in and around the area reported no immediate damages or injuries.
This was the third earthquake reported today starting with a 7.3 earthquake in Iran that killed over 450, and then a strong 6.5 magnitude quake that struck the Pacific coast of Costa Rica near its capital city San Jose, but with no deaths reported there.
