Magnitude 6.1 Earthquake Hits Indonesia

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryNews

A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.1 has hit an Indonesian island today according to the US Geological Survey. The earthquake hit south of Indonesia’s Sumbawa island.

The large Indonesian island is home to almost 1.4 million people and is located in the Lesser Sunda island chain. The quake hit at a depth of 16 miles and hit 136 miles south of Raba in the east of the island.

Indonesia has a deadly history with earthquakes due to its position in the Ring of Fire.

The country suffered its deadliest year in more than a decade in 2018 with more than 3,000 people were killed by earthquakes and tsunamis.

More than 100 people died when an earthquake devastated the tourist island of Lombok near Bali in August. In September an earthquake hit the area around Palu on the island of Sulawesi in northern Indonesia.

That 7.5-magnitude earthquake spawned a tsunami and together the two natural disasters devastated the region reducing large parts of Palu and other towns to rubble.

There was also the Indian Ocean tsunami triggered by a massive earthquake in 2004 and that disaster killed 226,000 people in 14 countries, including more than 120,000 in Indonesia.

The Biblical prophecies foretell that earthquakes are a sign of the Last Days at the end of this age.
