North Korea now has nuclear bombs and intercontinental ballistic missiles that can reach the U.S., which makes North Korea a nuclear power and threat.

This means South Korea and the United States must see North Korea as a nuclear power, as it now joins the ranks of other countries in the nuclear club.

Former national intelligence officials are saying that Pyongyang will not give up its nuclear arsenal now, since it provides them leverage and creates a deterrence against attacks against them.

That with the current developments, North Korean de-nuclearization is no longer achievable and that Washington should rather focus on working to cap their nuclear and missile capabilities through other options such as dialogue and sanctions.
