Lake Powell, a crucial US reservoir on the Colorado River, has now hit its lowest level on record since the reservoir was first filled.
The country’s second-largest reservoir had dropped to 3,555.09 feet (1083.6 meters), according to the Bureau of Reclamation.
The reservoir is now at just 33% of its capacity and is more than 110 feet (33.5 meters) below the 1981 to 2010 average. Officials have closed some of the lake’s busiest marinas due to the low water levels.
The record low water level is a sign of the problems the reservoir is facing and its uncertain future.
Thanks to a dry winter and low snowpack, the lake got 2.5 million acre-feet less water than expected this past season. This winter was one of the top-three driest on record in the region.
The bad winter and extreme heat again this summer are worsening the region’s mega-drought. And the long-term trends are dire for the region’s water supply.
As the Colorado River’s flow continues to decrease, at the same time, a burgeoning population—the river supplies water to 40 million—is leading to overuse.
And as the reservoir of Lake Powell continues to fall, it could affect how some states get their water and trigger possible lawsuits and fights over water use in the region. As reservoirs in states like California are also in record-low condition.
The Biblical prophecies (Revelation 16) foretell in the future how the earth will become so hot from the sun that it will scorch humanity, as record heatwaves and drought are now signaling we are nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
