A report says Ukraine faces a “very high” risk that Russia will use tactical nuclear weapons, officials say, as Moscow scrambles to reverse recent battlefield losses.
A recent Ukrainian counteroffensive recovered large swaths of territory in eastern Ukraine, forcing Russian President Vladimir Putin to order a “partial mobilization” to find more troops to throw into the fight.
That decision is an apparent acknowledgment of a manpower problem that might make the use of nuclear weapons more attractive in the Kremlin.
“They will likely target places along the front lines with lots of [army] personnel and equipment, key command centers, and critical infrastructure,” Ukrainian deputy intelligence chief Vadym Skibitsky told the Guardian.
“In order to stop them, we need not just more anti-aircraft systems, but anti-rocket systems. But everything will depend on how the situation develops on the battlefield.”
The latest assessment lends more credence to the Western anxiety over Russia’s potential use of a nuclear weapon at Ukraine and why they have repeatedly been warning Russia not to do it.
As the recent Ukrainian successes on the battle field could result in Russia making a desperate effort to salvage victory out of the war going against them.
Senior European officials have said that the Ukrainians have hinted they would respond to a nuclear strike by increasing military operations inside the country of Russia.
The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Ezekiel 38, Ezekiel 39) foretell of Last Days wars including Magog Russia taking military action that ultimately affects Israel and the nations signaling we are nearing the end of this age and the coming of Jesus Christ.
These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
