For first time in 36 years, the U.S. turned its back on Israel in the U.N. allowing the Security Council to unanimously vote to condemn Israel for settlements on its land, with the U.S. abstaining instead of vetoing.
An abstention by the U.S. paved the way for the 15-member international body to approve the resolution, with 14 votes in favor, prompting applause in the council chamber. The Obama administration’s action broke with the long-standing American approach of shielding Israel.
The resolution said the establishment of settlements by Israel, including East Jerusalem, has “no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation under international law.”
The condemnation of Israel by the U.N. is more than merely symbolic, for it was a big blow to Israeli policy while formally enshrining the international community’s disapproval of Israeli settlements and will spur further Palestinian and international moves against Israel in international forums and negotiations.
The U.N. Secretary-General welcomed the resolution and the Russian U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin called on Israel to “respect international law.”
This move by the United Nations of the world against Israel is a significant Sign of the Last Days positioning the world for prophetic fulfillments.
For it can be used as a basis of justifying the coming attempted invasion of Israel by Magog Russia with its Muslim allies that has World War implications, and also to justify the actions toward Israel by the coming anti-Christ of the revived Roman Empire.
