A rare earthquake struck the northeast U.S. after the election as the quake rattled the New England region with the US Geological Survey initially measuring it at a 4.2 magnitude but later said it was a 3.6.

Earthquakes are rare in this area and it’s reported this was the strongest earthquake to hit southern New England in decades.

It was the strongest earthquake in the area since a magnitude 3.5 temblor hit in March 1976 according to Paul Caruso, a USGS geophysicist.

The earthquake was centered off the coast of New Bedford, Massachusetts, in Buzzards Bay according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Earthquake Information Center.

The earthquake hit at a depth of a little more than 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) and was felt across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and into Connecticut and Long Island, New York.

A resident in  Massachusetts said she heard a rumbling with it sounding like something exploded and her whole house shook. Her husband ran to the basement because he thought their boiler blew up.

Also, local police in the area reported getting calls from concerned citizens including reports of shaking, things falling, and street signs getting uprooted.

There were also reports of damage to houses with local fire departments inspecting basements and also the Red Cross helped some impacted residents.

The Red Cross of Massachusetts said it was working to assist at least 20 adults and an unknown number of children who were reportedly displaced in New Bedford.

Another resident in Massachusetts said she felt the earth shaking for about 20 seconds with a sound like an overfilled, imbalanced washing machine with the noise growing louder and shaking the whole house.

Others said they were awakened by what sounded like a large plane flying outside their window and then the house began to shake.

Or some described thinking a large truck had crashed into the building or that it felt like a train had hit. There were also people walking on the beach at that time that saw the bay rippling from the rare tremor.

There were those who said they had never experienced such an earthquake in the area and that it was unnerving.

These events and conditions happening now are warning signs pointing to the nearing fulfillment of the Last Days prophecies at the end of this age revealing it’s time to prepare now for the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ for His Church by being born again spiritually into the Kingdom of God as Jesus said we must (John 3) and His Apostles who were authorized (Matthew 16:19) described how (Acts 2).
