As if Florida doesn’t have enough natural phenomenons to worry about, they can now add earthquakes to the list after an extremely rare earthquake shook the Sunshine State.

According to the USGS, the earthquake was near a small town called Century, just south of the Alabama state line in the western Florida Panhandle.

It’s reported the epicenter of the earthquake was centered near Rose Marie Bishop Road and near Bray Mill Creek.

A resident in the area said the earthquake made his small dog start barking, and he heard a sound then felt like a big ripple or a wave causing him to think a car hit the side of his house when the quake hit.

Although the tremor was weak measuring 2.6 on the Richter scale, the real significance of the earthquake is the rare and unusual location within Florida, where earthquakes are very uncommon.

The Florida Geological Survey has said that Florida is located on a passive continental margin, which means that there are no tectonic plate boundaries nearby that can cause earthquakes.

So for an earthquake to happen in Northwest Florida is an unusual place and event. And in His prophecies for the end of the age, the Lord Jesus said that earthquakes in diverse, various places would happen.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21) foretell that earthquakes are a sign of the Last Days indicating the coming end of the age and the nearing appearance of Jesus Christ to catch away His born again believers.
