Rare Mega-Storm Harvey Sets Record With Over 51 Inches Rainfall

The rare mega-storm called Hurricane Harvey was measured at 51.88 inches at a weather station in Cedar Bayou, Texas — about 30 miles from downtown Houston.

The above preliminary data is .12 inches shy of the all-time record for total rainfall from a tropical storm in the entire U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska.

And its possible that final data may even exceed this total, showing that this storm was rare indeed with a total of 1 trillion gallons of water having fallen.
