What scientists are calling an extremely rare meteorite has been found on a driveway of a house in Gloucestershire in the wake of a spectacular fireball that had lit up the night sky over the United Kingdom and Northern Europe.

A record number of people spotted and reported the fireball, which scientists say the extraterrestrial rock zoomed to Earth from the outer regions of the asteroid belt located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

They say this meteorite is the first to be found in Britain in 30 years, but besides that they also say it is the first meteorite of its type to ever be found in the UK.

The experts say the meteorite is an extremely rare carbonaceous chondrite. Which scientists describe as containing materials that were the building blocks of life when the solar system was formed.

Scientists received the call from a family who had heard a thud in the night on their driveway, and had gone out to discover the black rock.

They say of the approximately 65,000 known meteorites on earth, only 1,206 have been witnessed to fall and of these only 51 are carbonaceous chondrites, with this one the first to have been found in the UK.

Astronomers say the meteorite plunged into Earth’s orbit at around 31,000 mph — 40 times the speed of sound — before burning up in dramatic fashion but this one was big enough to survive entry into the atmosphere.

This same area of Gloucestershire also had a previous report of strange trumpet sounds heard in the sky, which has been happening around the world in recent times.

The Biblical prophecies (Matthew 24, Luke 21) foretell that there will be great signs from heaven with stars also falling signaling the world is nearing the end of this age.
